Welcome to the Friday Face-Off, a weekly meme created by Books by Proxy. Join us every Friday as we pit cover against cover, and publisher against publisher, to find the best artwork in the literary universe.  If you want to join us next week, check out next week’s predetermined them, choose a book, compare two or more different covers available for that book, then name your favorite. A list of future weeks’ themes are available at Lynn’s Book Blog.

This week’s theme is:

“A cover that is psychedelic!”

When you say the word “psychedelic” the first thing which comes to my mind is old school covers. You know, covers that remind you of the 1960s and 1970s when mind-altering substances and far out stories ruled the shelves.  So I immediately decided to pick a book which captured this groovy, psychedelic feel, and that book is . . .

  1. That cover definitely fits the category. Reminds me an album cover from the 70’s.

  2. I agree. That was the cover that caught my eye the best. The others seemed a bit too abstract to communicate the book. I agree with Charles that it has the feel of an old album cover.

  3. That was my pick too! Though I do love the little alien in the top left 😀

Good cover choice here from Bookwraiths. All the covers are interesting but only one caught my eye which happened to be that same as the winner. Have a look for yourself and see if you agree!

Top right for me! 😀 It looks like hes got a an 80’s disco exploding out of his abdomen! I actually thought they were colourful intestines on his body! 😮

  6. I love the second one! Ooh, look at all those pretty colors 😉

  7. They are definitely interesting.

  8. I have really enjoyed a few of Ray Bradbury’s books but sadly not this one – I will have to put it on my wish list. As for the cover, I think my favourite has to be the second cover. Not really sure what’s going on it but I do love all the colours in the sky.
