I am currently accepting select Fantasy, Science Fiction, Alternative History, Historical Fiction, Young Adult, Steampunk, and Christian books for review. You can send emails to Wendell at email@example.com.
I accept ARCs (hardcopy or e-book), finished copies, and audiobooks. If the book is a part of a series, I may prefer to read the first novel in the series first so as not to be lost by a protracted story. If you are requesting an audiobook review, I may request a print copy of the book.
As you can see, I love most speculative fiction, and to get a better idea of the type of books I prefer to review, you can look over my Category Index to see what I normally read. If your novel is similar to those I have reviewed before, then chances are that I will be happy to review your book.
While I adore books in general, I am NOT currently accepting books in the following genres:
•Extremely political or “hot button” topics
If I accept a book for review, I cannot guarantee a review within a certain number of weeks, but I do guarantee that I will eventually review your book and post said review to my Goodreads page, my Booklikes page, my Twitter feed, and my Facebook page. I will also – unless specifically requested not to – post my review to Amazon as well.
Please understand that I am not a full time book reviewer, and so I have to find time among my day-to-day life to read and review books, which means that it may take several months for me to get to your novel. However, if you have a date certain you wish my review to be posted, I will attempt to accommodate you if I receive the book 2-3 months in advance and you specifically request the time frame that you would like the review to post to the sites mentioned. By “time frame,” I mean more than “x” date but rather a window of 7-10 days.
As I mentioned earlier, I am not a professional reviewer, so my reviews are just that — my opinions about a book. I will not be writing objective literary critiques. Nor will I write a positive review just because I received a free copy of a book. What I strive to do is explain to my readers why I “liked” or “disliked” a novel. While doing that, I will always strive to be fair and honest and will NOT write nasty commentary about the author. In return, I expect the author to respect my viewpoint and NOT write nasty comments about me or my blog.
All reviews will include the following:
•Book stats: Title, author, series status
•Where I received the book
•My summary of what the book is about
•My review: What I liked and didn’t
MY STAR RATING
5 = I loved this book; it is now one of my favorites. I don’t give away 5 star ratings lightly.
4 = I really liked this book. It might not be perfect, but it was much better than average.
3 = I liked the book. It had some things I didn’t enjoy, but overall it was a solid read. My most common rating.
2 = Decent, entertaining book. Yes, there were things that really affected my enjoyment but not enough to make me stop reading.
1 = Did not enjoy this book. There were lots of things about this novel that negatively impacted my enjoyment, and I can’t recommend it.
Not to belabor the point, but please understand that my ratings are based on my own personal enjoyment of the book and are not in any way objective.
If you would like to do a giveaway on Bookwraiths, I would be happy to host it for you! My criteria for hosting a giveaway is that it be in one of the genres I currently accept and that I receive a copy of the book to review for Bookwraiths.
If you are interested in Bookwraiths hosting a giveaway for a book, please be sure to include the following information in your request:
•Format of the book (ARC, hardcover, softcover, audiobook)
•Shipping requirements (US, US/CA, or International)
•Run time of the giveaway
•Any additional information you would like included (photo of prize, blurb, signed?, et cetera)
Please note: As part of any giveaway, it will NOT be required of any entrants to “like,” follow, tweet, or make any other endorsements about the book being given away. It is a giveaway, which means it does not have strings attached to it.
AUTHOR POSTS AND GUEST POSTS
* Please Note: At this time, I will only accept guest posts from authors who publish in my preferred genres and whose book I have reviewed or will be reviewing.
